FS: New Rebuilt 901 Transmission - Allen Johnson

This is from the same car that the engine I am selling came from. The numbers say it is correct for a 1970 911T, whereas the engine number came up a 1971. Just for clarification.

Anyway, paperwork included - the rebuild, in 2008 cost $2,700. Not including the cost of the transmission. Today, the same core plus rebuild would be much, much higher of course.

    Gears are 11:34, 18:32, 23:28, 27:25 and 29:22, ring and pinion 7:31.

    $5700

    Nice clean trannie, GLWS!
This is as the stamping suggests, a 911 trannie, not a 901.
Just trying to help focus potential buyers.
You might also want to post the alphanumeric gear ratios...is it AFMSX?

Thanks Lars - I have always thought there were 901's, 915s, and G50s - did I completely miss a transmission type all these years?

I was in a hurry at the end of the day and just using my little 911 tech specs book - I didn't have the gear letters at that point. I'll try to find them today.

    Thanks.

Sorry to piss on the parade but technically 70-71 is still a 901.
Except for diff parts, same internals more or less as chilled cast alum housings. Individual part numbers confirm 901.

Yes these 65-71 transmissions are always called 901. The type number does change however from 901/xx to 911/xx on the aluminum to magnesium version. The aluminum case is a called "sand cast" and the mag are called "pressure cast" in the industry. Internal parts are almost identical and interchangeable. Mag weighs a good 10-20 pounds less overall. This trans in this listing is a 225mm "push clutch" which is 70-71 and the 911/01 gear ratios should be A-GA-O-V-ZA. Correct for 70-71 E or S.

    901/13 is a mag case and there was a 911/01 for a 215mm clutch, I had one from a 69S

To be accurate, the subject of this ad is a 911 transmission, not a 901.
It is stamped 911 01. All factory manuals refer to this type as a 911 transmission.
It does share many parts with the 901, but technically it is not a 901. It was designed for a pull-type clutch release.
