    Fuchs Wheel caps

    Have a set of 15" '73 Fuchs that have the caps with the 2 small holes drilled in each. Looking to install factory caps without holes, questions;

    1. Will solid caps from 71 14" Fuchs fit.?
    2. Is there another cap from another year, without holes, that will fit.?

    Any help appreciated

    73 should have 3 prong caps. 71 will also be 3 prong.
    If your wheels are late 73 for a 74MY car, they will have the ring type cap hole.
    The ring type cap without holes is discontinued but still around.
    I have seen wheels with 3 prong caps adjusted to fit the ring wheel.
    3 prong caps are available new from Porsche.
    3 prong caps didn't have holes in them

    Harvey, if he currently has holes then they must be ring type, no?

    Always wondered about the purpose of those two holes...

    Harvey, the caps with the 2 holes would be over the counter replacement parts and not production parts.? I take it I can get my solid, 3 prong caps off my original 71 14" wheels to work.? Thanks for the clarification

    The 71 will have 3 prong caps. You can adjust the prongs and they will work.
    The holes were introduced about 84 like Richard said. In production replacing the no hole caps in part number and fitment.
    The holes were ostensibly for removing the caps easily without removing the wheel from the car. However there is no serviceable parts under the cap and exchanging caps had not posed a large problem before.
    (The 928 and later small diameter caps needed the holes however)
    I have some ring caps without holes if you need them.

    I recall there being a tool in my 81 Turbo for removing the 2 hole cap. It was like a scissor spring with the ends slightly bent.
