    CDI wiring help

    I need some help with connecting the partsklassik 6500 new CDI + harness and black coil to my stock kettering el panel in my 67.

    Does I still need the exsisting ballast resistor and voltage regulator ?

    what seems so easy for those who knows.. can be a pain for me as my electric knowhow is very limited

    thanks

    You don't need the resistor. The voltage regulator has nothing to do with the ignition, it doesn't change.

    Lars,

    As somebody mentioned, I figured this out years ago:

    Thanks John

    sorry to be a pain in the a.... but how does CDI harness from parts klassik translate to this diagram https://www.partsklassik.com/p-946-c...g-harness.aspx

    this diagram says

    Red - power via fulepump +
    Brown - earth via fuelpump
    Blue/yellow to coil 15
    Black to tach wire ?

    what is Coil HV 4 to cap ( distributor) ?

    Lars, A B C D

    A= Achtung = 350V CDI output to coil blue/yellow
    B= Batterie +12V red
    C= Contact = Points black
    D= Ground =braid

    This is the way it is for the Bosch CDI, the Partsklassik harness is a replica of the Factory harness. I don't know if the wire colors are the same, you can't tell from the picture. If Kurt is smart he found the identical wire, nothing worse than wires that don't match the Factory because Internet diagnosis impossible.

    Hope this helps! Be careful with electricity.

    Kettering:

    I have now taken my stock kettering ignition back to 100% as original , and 100% match to wiring diagram

    the original starting relay is fitter exactly as original 85 ground -30 red /white via terminal block / - 86 yellow to ignition , 87 to balast resistor fuelpump via original wye T- line connector together with ballast resistor

    everything works car runs

    ---------------------------------------

    I have fitted the parts Klassik nice system ,everything have been double checked , good ground , all i the corect places acording diagram/ but NO spark??

    red B til 87 on relay
    From original T conector wye red one to 86 with fuel pump ( 2 connections on 86)
    85 to ground
    -30 red /white via terminal block

    A blue to coil A
    Ground from cdi box to coil I

    black/purpel to T connector

    ground to engine
    black to points

    can there be an other way through the relay? The original cdi don't have this relay?

    I can't wait to get this nice system to fire….

    I would also suggest taking photos of your parts and installation situation and send them to Kurt. Earlier this week I did this on my twin plug set up and Kurt spent close to an hour helping me out. Kurt's a great guy and very helpful; the system I have wasn't even supplied by Kurt and he still was happy to assist.

    Kurt got back to me on a saturday morning , fantastic service, seems that my old relay is on the way to the bin.. no power on terminal 87 so made a shortcut to
    +15 wire, IGNITION

    have to find a new relay

    the car runs absolutely fantastic with the CDI , more crisp, smooth, pulling stronger on high revs , revs more easily .

    thanks Kurt

    now we only need to get the tach working.
