Education needed: plastic cap under the oil filter in 73s

Hi gents, can somebody explain to me what is the stuff I have encircled in red in the picture for? It has a plastic cup on it and sometimes I find some oil drops around it ... I had a look on the PET but couldn't figure out ...

    Thanks a lot!

It's the top of the 'J' support for the rear bumper/wing. If you look up under the rear bumper behind the rear wheel you'll see the 'J' support.
It usually has a large washer underneath, folded up at one point to stop the nut coming undone. On swb cars the wires to the oil tank level went down the inside of the RH one.

The oil drops are likely from the breather pipe above it.
