Thread: Porsche 911 original bosch h1 headlights dual bulb led/halogen

Porsche 911 original bosch h1 headlights dual bulb led/halogen

VERY GOOD/EXCELLENT CONDITION - one head light rim has very light haze from what appears to be someone brushing it with fine steel wool. A few minutes on a buffing wheel will make the chrome perfect again.

Very few marks, no chips or cracks in lenses.

Porsche first installed this incredible lighting system in the 1968 911S.

These dual H1 bulb headlights are the very best headlight ever installed in 911's. I've used H1's for years. I used to put 100W bulbs in the high beams and adjusting them up for the extra reach of the 100W bulbs made it seem almost like daylight on even the darkest winding country roads - helping me avoid several mishaps with deer, elk, a bear, etc...

The downside with using the 100W bulbs was threefold: The extra current draw required additional relays to handle the load safely, the 100W bulbs run VERY hot so they are vulnerable to sharp bumps and the extra load can tip a marginal charging system over the edge. BUT THE LATEST GENERATION FLUX BEAM LED'S SOLVE ALL OF THOSE PROBLEMS - PLUS THEY ARE TWICE AS BRIGHT! They draw less than half the power of a regular 55W H1 bulb, but they are four times brighter(twice as bright as a 100W H1)

I just converted the high beams in the factory Bosch H1's in my 68 911S. I am so pleased with the results that I converted one of my extra sets of Bosch H1's in case someone else wanted a set. Check out the pictures of the lights on - the drivers head light still had the 100W high beam and the passengers side is the new LED.

THESE ARE "PLUG AND PLAY" - JUST PLUG THEM INTO YOUR STOCK HEADLIGHT CONNECTOR, ADJUST THEM FOR YOUR CAR AND BE AMAZED. I didn't cut any original wires or modify these original headlights in anyway, simple to convert back to original bulbs. I did convert the harnesses that came with these LED's by modifying the ground to fit onto the factory ground screws and putting heat shrink over the positive connections so they couldn't make contact with any grounded components.

$1900 for the pair, complete with LED bulbs installed.

Could I send you my h1 headlights and would you be willing to retrofit LEDs into them?

A short tutorial would be welcomed by many.

Agreed on both accounts - I have a set of H1s that are begging for this retrofit.

I can outline what you need to buy and how I set them up - it's pretty straightforward. The only tricky bit is getting the bulb clips past the heatsink/fans. Luckily you should only have to do it once since the LED bulbs are rated at 50,000 hours. Just drop me a line and I will email back the information. Not sure about shipping valuable H1's back and forth around the country so I'm not inclined to do conversions for people on their existing H1's.

Understandable - what's your email? I see the same LED kits available on eBay.

I've sent instructions to a few people who requested them. Not sure where would be appropriate place to post them?
