Auction Description:
- Rare, German-market left-hand drive short wheelbase early 911 T

This very special car retains its original aluminium crankcase air-cooled flat-6 with twin weber IDT triple-choke carburettors and was optioned from the factory with Fuchs 5.5J x 15" wheels, front fog lights, and original AM/FM radio, all still with the car. It was first registered in Germany, sold by dealers Hülpert & Co. out of Dortmund in the North Rhine-Westphalia region. It spent its early life with its first owner in Germany through the '70s, before being sold and exported to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1980, where it was repainted from it's original Bahama Yellow to the Sky Blue it wears now. The second owner maintained the car for 35 years from 1980 through to 2015, when it was purchased by an enthusiast in San Francisco who commenced some initial recommissioning work. In 2016 our vendor purchased the car from San Francisco and imported it into the UK for a more thorough restoration.
The engine was rebuilt during its time in Honolulu and has been upgraded with Arius high compression pistons, 2.2L barrels and S-spec cams. An 'S'-spec rear anti-roll bar has also been added. Carburettors, distributor, brake system and shift mechanism have been rebuilt. Fuel hoses, oil hoses, wheel bearings and suspension bushes have all been replaced. In 2017, the car underwent a full underfloor, interior, under bonnet and wheel arch bare metal strip and zinc phosphate anti-rust treatment, prior to being colour matched and refinished in its existing Sky Blue hue. The interior was subsequently restored and retrimmed with a new headlining and Tan 'Feintuft' velour carpets. The driver and passenger seats and all interior vinyl sections have been sympathetically restored, refurbishing existing materials wherever possible to maintain the patination.
The car has new headlamps, front sidelight and tail light assemblies with new rubber seals all round. The heater system and driveshafts have also been rebuilt. UK registration and the car's first UK MOT was issued in April 2017 and it has been enjoyed on the road ever since. The car was a Porsche Club GB National Concours finalist in 2018 and is supplied with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, consecutive MOTs, a maintenance record and the original owner's handbook.

The Porsche 911 is regularly at the top of the hit list of the most popular classics, worldwide. 911 of the first series, which was presented to the world public at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1963 and produced from 1964, are particularly popular. The original version of the 911, generally known as the F-Series, exudes a special charm. Even contemporaries who are less fixated on sportier vehicles can escape its fascination. Although the design looks much more modern, it is easy to see that the basic concept is still based on the Porsche 356. Technologically, however, the introduction of the 911 meant a giant leap for Porsche. In 1967, 4 years after the presentation of the new Porsche, the Porsche 911 T was added to the range as a fresh entry-level model.
A 911 T SWB (Short-Wheel-Base) from 1968 is now also up for auction in this auction: It is a model that was first delivered in Europe in December 1968, the Porsche has a total of 3 owners, the last owner was one Briton. Now the 911 T has been imported to Denmark, from where the seller sells the 911. The chassis number of the Porsche is 11820482, there is still a pair of keys for the car. A Porsche certificate of authenticity is available and confirms the matching numbers of the 911 T, and the seller also indicates that some earlier invoices and receipts are still available for the purpose of traceability of the history. The Porsche currently has a British registration, so it does not yet have a German registration.
The body of the 911 T is characterized by a charming archetype with a narrow waist and short wheelbase. The paint color is called "Sky Blue", which the Porsche has been wearing since 1980. The original delivery color was "Bahama Yellow". The accident-free Porsche impresses with its only lightly patinated exterior, the seller indicates that the car was repainted in the color "Sky Blue" 4 years ago. The paint is in good condition and there are obviously no major defects, the gaps are correct and no corrosion can be detected. The subtle chrome jewelry seems to be in good condition. Seals, rubbers and the piping are still soft and not hardened. The glazing all around is scratch-free.
Classic chrome Fuchs rims are mounted on the 911 T together with tires that are in good condition, the aluminum rims are apparently without curb scratches. The brakes are also in good condition, there are no defects in the chassis, everything here seems to be in its original condition.
The interior of the Porsche can be found in a somewhat used condition, whereby the brown leather seats are not worn or worn. Only on the dashboard and the steering wheel are insignificant traces of time noticed, but there can be no question of damage. The beige headliner is strikingly clean, it doesn't hang down. The interior carpet shows no stains and the dashboard is free of any cracks. The equipment includes an original radio, mechanical window crank and factory-installed fog lights. The switches, fittings, displays and instruments in the interior function perfectly.
A classic arrangement of the round instruments can be found in the cockpit of the early 911: of the five black dashboards, the speedometer includes the five-digit speedometer, which is currently at 18,555 miles. Since the mileage is measured using a five-digit speedometer and the history is not completely traceable, it can be assumed that the mileage is at least 118,555 mi. The seller indicates that it has a full UK owned service history for the past 4 years.
According to the seller, the 2.0 liter six-cylinder boxer engine (engine type 901/16) was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago, an original aluminum crankcase was used and Arius HC pistons were inserted into the engine. Together with the "S" camshafts, the Porsche 911 T now has a slightly higher output, originally it has 110 hp. It is shifted via a 4-speed manual gearbox. The 911 has recently undergone an inspection and a fresh service.
The underbody shows that the underbody is in good condition, corresponding to its age, black underbody protection is partially visible, the Porsche 911 T SWB apparently does not have any rust pockets.
