    FS: Excellent 1978 930

    For Sale
    1978 Porsche 911 Carrera Turbo
    VIN 9308800285
    $149,900.00 US

This is the best early model 930 I have seen in several years! Very low miles driven, 45,900, it is in excellent street concours level condition. It is a two owner example which was purchased new at the Bob Hagested Porsche Audi dealership in Denver, Colorado, with 34 years ownership by the original owner. The exterior is metallic silver with full black leather interior, (seats, dash, door panels and rear seats), power windows, electric rear window defogger, tinted glass, four speed transmission, air conditioner, 16” factory alloy wheels, driving lights and upgraded Alpine radio. The only other modification was the installation of an auxiliary oil cooler under the right front fender, cooled by direct ventilation and a fan controlled by the driver. The exterior was repainted due to a minor altercation with wire fence which caused minor scratches to the hood, front bumper, front fenders and roof in 1981. This damage was expertly repaired by the best German car collision repair facility in Denver. The roof was repainted and the seal around the sunroof replaced in 2013. Otherwise, there were no alterations, collision damage or modifications to this car. This is an outstanding value and a rare opportunity for the discerning Porsche enthusiast who understands the collectability of this Porsche 930 at below current market prices.

Mechanical Systems – The car has been meticulously maintained by Bob Hagestead, and Eisenbuds, Inc., a well respected Porsche service facility, Denver, Colorado for its entire life and the automobile is in excellent mechanical condition. A recent inspection of the engine, June 2014, revealed leak down readings of 4%, 4%, 4%, 6%, 4% and 4%, with no major deficiencies noted. The clutch and pressure plate were replaced at 37,294 miles driven in 2008 and the brake pads were replaced at 44,000 miles. All maintenance and routine mechanical work is fully documented with service orders and invoices. The engine number is the original and this was verified by PCNA. The A/C system was updated in June 2011 with the installation of a new rotary compressor and new hoses and it functions properly.

Exterior and Interior – There are almost no significant imperfections in the paint other than very minor chips on the front bumper. A new windshield was installed in May, 2008. The seats, dash, door panels, carpeting, dash and headliner are in excellent condition. The wheels are the original factory type Fuchs, with excellent Michelin Pilot Exaltos tires, P205/55R16 and 245/40R16, which were installed at 43,493 miles in February 2015.

Other considerations – The complete and original tool kit, and owner’s manual are included, as well as a custom made cover. This car could be a serious contender in street concours judging.

This fine Porsche is located in Denver Colorado and is available for inspection.

Price reduction $140,000 OBO. This is an excellent 930, what is the current market for this car?

Since you asked . . . . It's hard to say what the current market is for 930s. Just like in the long hoods, the rapid price increase brought cars out of the woodwork, and there is now a real glut in the market. Unless you're priced significantly under what others are asking or have something unique to offer, the cars are just not selling. Anyone who HAD to have a 930 already has one. Likewise, with lower demand, speculators have moved onto other models, further softening prices. I think it will take a few years for the market to stabilize.

With paint and bodywork, I'd say your car is a difficult sell above $100K.

reed hit the nail on the head- prices for turbo's increased very quickly, pristine original cars will sell for good money, projects sell for decent money - everything in between is a tough sell. Auction results are all over the map. GLWS , looks like a beautiful car.
