    69s front strut info help

Hi guys would someone be able to post a photo of the the correct Koni strut for a 911s 1969 so I can confirm I have the correct ones. Also I guess it makes no difference between rhd v lhd but I know some rhd were late to receive the changes.

    Thanks in advanced

Wouldn't it be easier if you posted pictures of your struts? Would need to see the small print and the bottom of the strut, most importantly.

Right so I have checked mine out and they are bilstiens in green with 3.5 inch spacings , I guess these are incorrect for my car they from a 911t? Also are the red Koni 3.5 spacing correct for a 69s?

Just need a positive confirmation don't want to do the wrong thing.

    Regards john

John, the Koni's with 3.5" spacings for Aluminium calipers are correct for a LWB 69S.

    John,

You can also find a Koni Strut from a later car - up to 1972 and this generation of strut also has a 3.5" spacing but uses a different ball joint and cotter pin to the 1969 Car.

Early 1969 type struts used a plain cotter pin which was parallel sided, later versions of this style of strut used a cotter pin with two tapered sides described as doppelkeilklemmung - double wedge clamp.

The correct part number is 901-341-079-10 which should be stamped into the bottom of the casing.

The 911E also had Aluminium calipers and I believe they were also fitted to cars with Sportomatic Transmissions.

The two struts look virtually identical and you could fit either depending on how picky you want to be.

The green struts on your car probably came from a 911SC. Those are good struts and very desirable as upgrades from struts(Boge) with 3" bolt spacing. You will have the later version of ball joints that mate with your Bilstein struts, too. The later ball joints are far superior to the ball joints that came with your car and provide a much better/safer connection with the strut.

    Regards

    Jim
PS: I'll post pictures of the ball joints and strut bottoms later today.

    Frank,

I had hit a problem with some of the seals I ordered that didn't fit.

I now have the problem resolved and have the correct parts.

Send me a list to remind me what you need and I will post them out.
