    901 transmission and 3.0

i'm considering installing a 3.0 euro engine into my 71 t and was wondering of they would be compatible? would the gearing prohibit the 3.0 from performing to capacity?
should i find a 915 to go with the 3.0...any thoughts?
    thank you

You don't have a 901 transmission in your 71 911T. You have a 911 Transmission that is compatible with the 3.0 engine/flywheel. You will have quite a bit of fun with that combo. Just bolt the 2.2 clutch on the 3.0 flywheel and you are good to go.

    Regards

I agree. And as long as you don't brutalize it, it will hold up fine. We run 330+ hp with mag 901's in race cars and they're fine.

BTW: Jim is a stickler for accuracy.
The 2.2 trans may be a "911" but its guts are all 901.

If it looks like a skunk and acts like a skunk...

Just be very careful in first gear as you could break the end off the shaft.

Large amounts of torque forces the two shafts apart and they break the weaker shaft.

We stopped using first on our 2.0 litre Rally car apart from the start of a stage when we are careful as we used to break one a year until we learnt the lesson.

We normally broke them out of a tight hairpin with full throttle, an LSD and sticky tyres.

The car was geared for around 110mph at 8000rpm in top with a relatively tall 1st

We now use a modified 4 speed box and have had no more issues.
