Tire choice for my R"aw build

I need a piece off advice of tire size and recommendations for my swb R"aw build

the car got R flares in the back

and I got new "repro" 7R 15" wheels in the back ET 47

and 6*15 ET 36 in front

Do I need a spacer in the back !!! would like to fill the arche out to the edge, and give the car a bit of stance

    Thanks

Yes I believe a 21mm spacer was used with the 7R wheels on SWB cars.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

What size spacer would be needed if a SWB car had a spacer from the factory already in the back like a 1968 car ? 68 cars got 7mm in the back I believe. This again to fit 7R wheels. Merek-- Look into Avons for tires. I think 215-60's are coming out soon. Chris

The 1968 Sports Purposes booklet lists 27mm spacers (part number 901.352.413.01) for 7" rim on the rear.

Marek, where did you get the R flares? Plastic or steel?

For the street, I would use Avon 185/70 and 215/60. You are going need to space them accordingly to your needs because of the fender/tire/your look combo. I would start with 21mm or so and add washers until you have the fitment that you like. Then have the spacers made....or they may be a standard size. Don't forget the spacers for the front also. The 6&7R "kit" from Porsche racing for privateers was 3mm front and 21mm for the rear. Keep in mind this was for different tires and different clearances. You also have to align the wheels before final fitment as the alignment can change the clearance more than 6mm. Good luck and post some photos.

I did order some BLOCKLEY TIRES size 185/70 VR 15"

before you think WTF is that , here is the link to there Web , and I have only heard good stuff about them

and price wise they are a good deal and they do got THAT vintage look

    there web is www.blockleytyre.com

the 215/60 will come later, Lee told me , so I can swap the rears on later

To my luck I am making a full range of spacers at the moment , So I just have to experiment a bit to get the correct look :-)

There was a recent test by the German magazine auto motor klassik in which they tested the blockley tyre on a 911. They found that it performed relatively poor in the wet, a better choice seems to be the pirelli cn36. Link to the article (german): http://rennlist.com/forums/attachmen...assik-0716.pdf
