Porsche SWF Wiper and Turn Signal Refurbishment (plus Kudos George/Levon Upholstery)

As the restoration process draws nearer to a close on my 67 S, I wanted to make sure the interior looked as good inside as all the other areas (mechanical, exterior). To that end, I enlisted George at Levon Upholstery in North Hollywood. He came highly recommended by TLG and John Esposito and works on many of their cars.

One of the particular areas was the SWF Wiper and Turn Signal switches. after many years they were pitted and had some surface rust. They also didn't work as smoothly as they could have. I know this is a problem because I've read many threads here. While reproductions are made for later cars, early cars are SOL.

To George's great credit, and after I struck out with people willing to do the disassembly, he took a leap and here is how it turned out, just waiting for the end caps to go on.

    George is highly recommended!

It hasn't taken that long...but parts do need to come back from plating. The trickiest bit was drilling out the rivets that hold everything together...which was why most mechanics didn't want to tackle the job.

Re: Cost - I'll have to ask George for a breakdown.

Does anyone know of a service that can rebuild the original turn signals for 1973 cars? I know there are new replacements, but they have a slight physical difference to the stalk, but the real issue is they feel completely different in how the click on and off compared to originals. Very stif and plastic feeling.

That is because they are made of plastic, not like the originals.

Well that explains it. Does anyone know of a rebuild service for the original metal ones?

That's great, but I can't find a listing for Levon Upholstery in North Hollywood.

    Is Levon the correct spelling?

    Could you post contact information?
