Source for Black 8mm Spring Washers???

    Hello

I am looking for black 8mm spring washers. Is there a source I can buy them from? Does anybody know what the coating process was used to turn them black in case I have to have them turned black. From a 1970 911, used under M8 x 10 bolt to secure rear brake protection plate.

Hi Dave, in this case I am not exactly sure but there are a lot of items new from Porsche which are the wrong finish. Also we tend to buy items in the 100's and have plated, due to costs.

Orbit's photo is kind of fuzzy but I think those might be belleville washers.

JimmyT's photo is a standard spring washer, also called a "wavy washer."

Belleville washers are usually used to put on real clamping tension. I think they're used for the bolts holding my rear CV joints to the flanges at the transaxle. I'm a little surprised to see them in a standard lockwasher application like brake backing plates. I'd expect to see "wavy washers" there.

The parts catalg says that 6 B 8 x 15 spring washers help secure the brake backing plate. When the parts catalog says "spring washer" it's usually a "wavy washer."

Anyway, you can google "belleville washer" and find lots of sources. Alibaba has genuine black Chinese bellevile washers.
