Thread: Red fabric AC hoses

  1. #31
I also have some interest. I'm restoring a 70T and have collected some of the major pieces to install A/C. My car did not come with A/C but don't think I can live without it here in Florida. Which sizes will I need? 6, 8, or 10? What length and how difficult will it be to acquire fittings?
    Thanks PJ

    capcgn,
What do you mean "pic is not 1540 for A/C"?
Curious as to whether the MB hose has the "lines" bordering both sides of the number? This is how the new hose is being made so not like you have a choice. lol

    PJ,
Awesome that you're installing a Behr system in a non-fac A/C car. Most people couldn't care less about details like that. I'll see if I have extra fittings. Are you sure you're using all Behr equipment? I could fill a truck bed with compressor brackets.

As for length of hose: Now that it appears that there's crossover into other makes we'll sell it by the foot. A 911 has predetermined lengths that we'll confirm at a later date.

    Dear Frank,

Aeroquip produced many different hoses for very different aplication. The hose for AC was the 1540 in the older days with red fabric wrapped , later black. This hoses where marked with white text and numbers to see what hose it is. It always says Aeroquip and then the 1540 and then the size . your pic has a hose what says Aeropuip 648 and is for a nother aplication, but not to carry AC gas. If you like, I can take pics from my cars with original red 1540 and post them.

    Capcgn,

Yes, please, could you try to take pics of your 1540 hoses clearly showing the markings, even better if you can do this for each size...

Frank, it makes sense regarding one of my comments about the 1540 and the SAE markings. I can throw awau half of the artwork...

    Olivier.

Yep. It would appear that my "NOS" hose does not have the proper markings. I'll dig out original pieces and compare. If anyone has clear markings feel free to post.

Too funny: Just looked at my NOS hose again and there are different part numbers on each side.
