All the Porsches at the Monterey Auctions (Monterey Car Week)

Just a few more weeks and the Monterey Car Week begins. As usual, the different auction house bring some exquisite and rare cars on the block.
To no one's surprise, there are many interesting Porsches being hammered too

Here's a complete list of all the Porsches being auctioned.. impressive isn't it?

I think we're going to see two tiers at Monterey.

The good cars will bring record prices. The junk will go even lower than it is right now.

Last year we saw a lot of bad cars. Since every auction house is desperate for cars I suspect we'll see even more trash this year.

Then again I've been wrong before

Two oddballs caught my eye at Mecum- a 1965 912 prototype and a 1967 911 "Deluxe RS". Both have big estimates. What's a Deluxe RS?

Be careful of the estimates. Estimates are used to entice the seller to consign the car. They pump the owner up with a high estimate and when the car doesn't meet reserve they start woking on the seller to drop the reserve. You see it all the time with Dana.

In the past few years the estimate has become a meaningless number.

There was a thread on this forum a little while back about the "911 Deluxe" I think Mecum's explanation is pretty concise and sums up that thread fairly well:

Porsche utilized 253 previously completed wood dash, Webasto heater cars, chassis numbered 304703-304955 that were removed from available current sales inventory.

I hadn't seen RS appended to the Deluxe before.
