    Need Experienced Asses

I am looking to refurbish my seats in a 71 911E. I am considering two options rebuilding a pair of original comfort seats or buying a nice pair of reproduction sport seats like the Deser Sport S brand. Ultimately comfort is the main factor. I have performed a search on this with little results. One gentleman stated he and his wife switched from sport seats to the comfort seat do to discomfort on long trips. What is your experience?

    Thumbs up

Frank is right... A lot has to do with your body type...

Although cost prohibitive, the factory sport seat seem to be more body type forgiving then some the after market... Although even some of those have a wider body type option. Some the after market sports seats have higher (and somewhat unforgiving) side bolsters making it pretty tight, therefore challenging on long trips... YOU HAVE TO TRY THEM OUT FIRST......

I was fortunate enough to have bought a car with factory sports seat...
At 5-7 (on a good day) at about 150 lbs. I can put 500 very comfortable miles on the car at a sitting ... with 2 1/2 gas stops...

    Hope this helps....

I would suggest just rebuilding the comfort seats. They look correct in the car, and are comfortable for long drives. Not so great for track and autocross where the sport seats really make a difference.

    Sorry Rd; couldn't resist.

Your heading could have been taken a couple of different ways so I covered my bases.

If you're very comfortable riding coach then sport seats are for you.

I knew you and Frank had a connection. Next time you are thinking of removing one of his post can we decide it with a wrestling match?

I am 6' and weigh 220 Lbs. 36" waist. I would love to test drive the sport seats but I don't have that luxury.

I made some reproduction sport seats with Stefan at GTS Classics. I believe he and others like him can customize them for you to make them slightly wider, etc if you need that. Very happy with the finished product, and I find it much more comfortable than the original comfort seats that came with the car.

Comfort seats lack the side bolsters required on the twisty bits. Factory sport seats have too short a lower cushion and not enough lumbar support for long trips.
I use Recaro LS seats which are comfortable, supportive and 30 pounds lighter.
This is a very subjective personal observation, different body types. My legs would fall asleep in the original Sport seats after 300 miles or so.
I'm 5'10 and weigh 172, 3' and 20 some pounds more than Chuck. Factory Sports certainly look the best.
The Deser seats seem to be exact copies, but I've only seen pictures.
