advice on replacement of chrome exterior door trigger

The trigger on the outer door handle on my 73E broke today when I tried to open the door.

From the look of the break it looks like the part was made out of "pot metal" a bit like early the horn grills. I have placed a WTB for the entire handle without a lock but in searching initially I came across one place selling "Cast Aluminum Chrome Trigger Replacement kit complete with spring and rod"

Does anyone have any experience with this type of replacement of the trigger only? And is there any advice as to whether I should try to replace the whole handle or just try to do the trigger

I think one of the reasons the trigger snapped is because it was stiff regardless of how much the door lock mechanism was adjusted and a part that does not quite fit may exacerbate that causing further failure down the track

this is what it looks like now

I replaced my triggers (both sides) some years ago with the aluminum aftermarket substitutes. They work, are expensive and lack the correct feel. Appearance isn't stock but is fine. I live with them but wish I had the real thing. The problem is you will likely pay an arm and a leg for a replacement handle unit. Good luck.
