Vendor Recs Needed for windshield & rubber kit .. for a 1970

Car is a 1970 911 & it is getting a Respray so obviously its rubber time all the way around... And my current front windshield is a cheapie knock off from the 80's that has to go.

I have Fought with rubber from some vendors in the past and ended up just throwing it out..

Any and ALL advice greatly appreciated for brand names / vendors..

    Thanks Much!

International Mercantile is great for light housing drains, spark plug wire hold downs etc, but for the important items like hood seals, engine bay seal, windshield seals, I would only go with Porsche factory stuff.

I went with Porsche on the side and back. I wouldn't touch the aftermarket stuff. It never fits properly.

The problem is, how do you know it's "Porsche factory stuff"? I've ordered windshield seals from reputable sources packaged with official looking "Porsche" labels only to find out it's garbage. Let's face it, even "Porsche" probably uses a variety of vendors to make this stuff, who then sell it on the aftermarket. Is there a consistent source for buying true-fit windshield seals? Is there a way to look at the seal and know it's right? I tried measuring the cross section and found the good stuff is thicker, around 34-35 mm for SWB 911/912 comes to mind, but can't say for sure. Maybe someone has a sure-fire detection system?

John you are very correct, but i have also noticed that factory was does is hold the vendor to a higher standart in quality, i say this, since i have used both, and porsche ones usually have a better fit.

What i do to make it easier on the installation, is fit it on the windscreen, days before so it molds it self.
