    72 Paint tag- Tangerine 018-9 2

My ST build is moving right along and I got to thinking about my paint tag. As you can see in the photo, it's flat, a bit scratched, the corners a little messed up, but it's the original tag. It actually looks better than the photo depicts because of the size difference. What do think? Should I use it on my freshly painted car? Should I get a new one, and if so, who can emboss the paint code? OR....maybe there's an orphan tangerine tag out there in better shape than mine that I could buy?

    Thanks.

Thanks Mike, I'll give it a try. Not too expensive if the lettering doesn't come out looking right. Nick

Forgot, International Mercantile is also a good source for the tag and stamping. http://www.im356-911.com/

I think it is a crisp look to remove these badges before refinishing. I see so many 6 figure longhoods with smeary masking jobs that to me, say what else did they skimp on?

I think this is aftermarket but I don't really know-

I spent hours with popsicle sticks smoothing and straightening my trunk badge. It was worth it. I'd replace that door badge.

They´re only original once... These small details will become more and more important as time passes..

I would use the one pictured without doubt!

I agree with jesseandersson: keep the original and someone will love you in the future...

Thanks for the opinions, guys. I'm going to have a new one made by International Mercantile and see if I like it. Keep in mind that my car is an ST inspired build, the car is nowhere close to original. That said, I understand the value of using the original tag. Even if I use the new tag I won't be tossing the original tag in the trash, it's going to remain with the car. I used the original ID plate in the front trunk and it looks great.
