Need Your Input: What part joins the master cylinder reservoir to the tubes?

    I need some help...

What part is used to connect the master cylinder and the brake fluid reservoir? Two plastic tubes descend into the bodywork from the reservoir, but I can't tell how the tubes are fastened to the master cylinder.

Thanks, in advance for your help!!

Here is the part. It is a rubber grommet and a bitch to install if the master cyl is still in the car.

    Regards

Jim B, reading your thread above, install the rubber grommets on the M/C PRIOR to installing on the car.? Do the reservoir down tubes easily slide into them once the M/C is installed.? Doing a whole new brake set up on my 71, and this thread couldn't come at a better time. Thx

The supply lines are fairly easy to install with the master cyl on the bench. Yes, install them on the bench and then install the master cyl in the car with the lines attached.

    Regards

Jim, are you a fan of bench bleeding the M/C prior to install or just bolt it up, fill res. and let it gravity bleed.?

I've never had a problem with gravity bleed on these masters

So general consensus, no need for bench bleeding on a new M/C, just install and gravity bleed.? Thanks for the help

Do the plastic tubes you have include the flared steel tubes that fit into the grommet?

nice to see lots of participation, and input from Jim Breazeale is always appreciated. consistent with my my traditional luck, my master cylinder is on the car and all of the lines are attached. so, i will make probably an attempt to get the 2 grommets on and after being unsuccessful, disconnect everything and bench-build the master cylinder, as jim suggests.

for what it is worth, this is the link to stoddard's version of the entire connector-line part -- http://www.stoddard.com/pcg35506100.html. (those beasts are $157 each.)

i think this is the stoddard link to the grommet (i think you'll need two @ $6 each.) -- http://www.stoddard.com/90135592900.html

Wow! $340 (with shipping) for two parts like this?! that's a bunch.
