Lead on a '65-'66 in Eastern WA

Driving from Pullman, WA to Steptoe Butte State Park in Eastern WA a couple of weeks ago I saw an early car sitting in some farmers garage. By the bumperettes and headlights I could tell at a glance it's a '65 or '66. 911 or 912? Don't know. Based on the condition and amount of dirt, it's been there awhile. And I'm sure it needs everything. Might be worth checking it out.

Here's what I know: The house is on the right hand side of the road as you make the drive from Pullman. It's a small, grayish house, with the garage behind and to the right of the house. The car is in the middle, or right hand, bay of a 2-3 stall garage. I forget if it's before or after Colfax, but I think it's after.

I made a mental note and planned to stop on the drive back. But, long story short, I was in a rush to get back and couldn't get a better location. I had to get my buddy to the emergency room. And if any of you are thinking of picking up the hobby of paragliding, think hard on it. My friend got lifted up by a rogue breeze and thrown into the hillside at great force. He's lucky to be alive.

I realize this could be a goose chase, especially since I have terrible directional memory. I really need an HSI card and two needles to safely navigate anywhere. Anyway, I thought I'd pass it along. Not interested in it myself. Good luck!

    The grail...

This sounds like the HOLY GRAIL if it is an early 911 or a box of rocks if its a 912.

Living in South Florida I don't have a chance because I am sure Frank has already gassed up and is headed full steam in his Mini Van towing a two-wheel car dolly.

That story SCREAMS California , or at least West Coast

Nah, not a Holy Grail. That belongs to this guy who walked up to me in the parking lot of Commissary at NAS Whidbey Island. I was driving my '67 912. He asks about my car and we talk Porsche for a bit. Then he tells me he has the first 911 delivered to the pacific northwest in 1965. His dad imported it, or something like that. He tells me, "it's literally rotting away in a field". Then he gives me his number and to call him if I'm interested. I call him about an hour later when I get home. He waffles a bit and decides he doesn't actually want to sell it. That he'll "get to it", someday. So what did I do next? I threw. away. his. number. This was 2003-2004. Good luck with that one. Whidbey Island is a large island.

There's two more I know of within a couple miles from me. One's a '67 911 with a plaque on the glovebox. Apparently, the owner tells me, it's from Porsche and says who the car was made for. It's been in the garage in pieces for a couple of decades.

When I'm retired (just a theory of course) I hope one of my main pastimes will be to stage finds like this.

To see grown men act like teenage boys for brief periods of time would be very enjoyable.

Kind of a gearhead version of Punk'd.

Farmers in Eastern WA, Oregon and Southern Idaho love to leave crappy cars within view just to "f" with city slickers.

Back in the 70s, a guy in the SF East Bay used to advertise an "old Corvette" that was kind of a station wagon style - published only an address and he and his buddies sat on lawnchairs, drinking beer and watching a full day parade of fools looking for the famous "Waldorf Corvette." Did that for at least 2-3 years on or around April 1.
