    1970 only door handle

    Hi,

Selling this 1970 only door handle (horizontal orientation of the lock cylinder) in reasonable state. Some pitting, hope the pictures are clear enough so for concours it really should be re-chromed. Your choice of side, comes with lock cylinder and I can add a bunch of tumblers to make it fit to your key. I do not have a spare key though. Asking $250,- shipped.

    Kind regards,

    Cees

No demand or overpriced, how about $225,- shipped complete, or if you just want the handle then it will be less of course.

    Cheers,

    Cees

ps this one will be re-chromed. Back later in a pair!

    Hi Cees,
Do you know whether the horizontal lock handle works with the vertical lock cylinder from later years? (Apologies - probably a stupid question!)
    Many thanks, Richard.

    Hi Richard,

To my knowledge there is only one type of lock cylinder and those are interchangeable between the 70 and other years handle. If there are later lock cylinders (993?) I would say they will not fit. Weird thing is that I have a pair of chromed doorhandles in which the lock cylinder does not work. There is a pin on the early lock cylinders that can rotate inside the handle bore for about 180 degrees. The other pair of handles (even same part number) has no 180 degrees deeper recess in the bore so the cylinder just rotates all the way. Plus the L or R inside lever will do the same. No idea if there is some kind of washer needed to make it work, or a complete different lock cylinder. Hope this explains...I see if I can find some pictures.

    Cheers,

Thanks Cees. I'm interested in any info you have.
Also do you know if the "actuation lever" (the part of which there are two in your photo, one L one R) is horizontal-lock (70-71) only?
I have a motley assortment of handles, levers, lock cylinders, from which I need to make two 1970 horizontal lock handles. So I may be a buyer for some / all of your parts depending on how useful my collection turns out to me.
    Many thanks, Richard.

    door handles

    Hi Richard,

That actuation lever is common for all door handles. There are difference though between the part where the pin runs through. First one, 1970 included is pictures, second one is the claw type and obvious not interchangeable. Then there are difference between the pins, either top and/or bottom end so just try all combinations to come to the right working one. Trial and error, plug and play..
I have pictured the other type, which I have a problem with, and looking at the open part you can see that I am missing either a metal or plastic washer to make the handle work with the keyed lock cylinder. I have no idea if these parts are available. Lat but not least, one closed version and this is a total mystery. No recess in the bore and no idea where to put a washer to get the movement only 180 degrees. Plus the cylinder sticks out when inserted. What do I have?

    Cheers,

    Cees

    Cees,
Many thanks, that's very helpful info.
Time for proper look at the parts stash, I think.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully an expert will be along...
    Cheers, Richard.
