Photos of a correct' '68 starter, please?

Can anyone provide me with a couple of photos of a '68 starter with a correct paint job?

    Thank you, in advance.

I've got 50 of those things. They are all filthy dirty, though.

    Regards

PS: I had one of your beers last night and enjoyed it.

Here's my '68 starter. My car is an early '68 ROW 912 but I seriously doubt they used a different starter. The cap over the end was painted black and mine is chipping off but it's certainly there. Hope it helps.

thank you, friends. the photos are very helpful, but i am smiling at the ironies that so often arise when requests like this are made, where the message becomes mixed with good and bad news.

my starter looks almost identical to the photos from bantam and puma -- black paint falling off of the butt-end. but then i realized that my solenoid is wrong.

so, it appears that i will have a freshly painted starter with a correct paint pattern, and the wrong solenoid.

So what's the number on the side of your starter?

if i read it correctly, here is what it says:

    Bosch
    0 001 212 002
    EB< 12V 08PS

    does that conform?

Yep, an 002 is an early one all right. It might even be TOO early. . . check the spec book to see when the part number advanced. I don't have mine handy at the moment.
