How do you re-finish a horn grill?

How do you strip the chrome off of a horn grill after it has blistered? They appear to be made of pot metal. Is the process mechanical, like sanding/blasting? Or is it chemical?

I have several pairs of these, and I am wondering whether to invest time in them.

    Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

I used to have these done at considerable expense by a specialty chrome shop that was willing (and able) to invest the time it takes to work with pot metal. It wasn't cheap and the results weren't always stellar.

Quite frankly, with the availability of Soterik's new correct repros, I'm not sure refinishing these is worth the effort any more.

+2 for soterik's grills. i put them on my own car.

I'm simply trying to find out if there is a method to remove the chrome that I am qualified to perform.

Anyone have suggestions? Anything that you have tried and which did not work?

Unless you have access to stripping chemicals/equipment, I think it will be difficult to remove the chrome without damaging the pot metal underneath.
