  1. #1

Post What kind of radio for a 911 BY 1965 and MY 1966?

Can anyone help to find the correct radio for my BY 65 / MY 66 European car?
    VIN 303381.
    In books I read about:

    -Blaupunkt Koln
    - Blaupunkt Frankfurt
    - Blaupunkt Stuttgart
    - Becker

The car had one loudspeaker and one antenna.
    Radio later dealer installed.

Whoch radio is the most correct one to chose? W series 65/66 or V series 65/66?

    Thanks

    PS: Visuals would be helpful

Best to have the Kardex of your car, that will help.

    Otherwise:

    Option 9320
    Blaupunkt: Bremen MW/LW, Bremen AM/LW

    Option 9322
    Blaupunkt: Frankfurt UKW/MW/KW/LW, Frankfurt AM/FM

    Option 9323
    Blaupunkt: Köln UKW/MW/LW, Köln AM/FM

    Option 9326
    Blaupunkt New Yorker UKW/MW/Marinewave

    Option 9340
    Becker Monte Carlo TR MW/LM

    Option 9341
    Becker Europa TR LM/UKW/MW/KW

    Option 9342
    Becker Europa TR-M-U/UKW/MW

    Option 9345
    Becker Mexico TR UKW/MW/LW/KW

(for US market, there were radios with US specs.)

    Thanks,

My Kardex says nothing about this.
Only that the car was provided with one antenna and one loudspeaker.
This means that the radio was not factory installed bu would be chosen by the client at the dealer.
So I suppose every option is possible.
Even radios that were one year older that the car...

    What do you think

Do you think this one has the correct knobs? Looks like knobs for a 356? Or am I wrong?
Can you order knobs for a 911?

    See pictures of the radio.

This is the radio from my '66 912, Swiss delivery in December, 1965. It's a Blaupunkt Frankurt.
(If you're curious, that's my '50 split in the garage and a friend's 1928 Ford Model A Phaeton police car.)
One knob is missing, but you can see the shape of the remaining knob.

    Hi Michael

This is an original European (British-market actually) Blaupunkt brochure and one page flyer dated effective 1 May 1965. Sorry about poor quality photo but it is shot I already have saved on this iPad photos. British units used same push buttons to continental Europe rather than FM AM of USA. Original document is in storage. May also have some Blaupunkt unit/s from that era and other original colour photo brochure but can't recall for sure.

Post 5 Knobs, I do not think correct for factory fitted - they have hollow/concave ends - hard to find.

If as you say nothing on Kardex then almost anything goes

    Thanks for answering!
So if I understand it correct the picture of the radio I showed is fully original?
    Except for the 2 knobs?
Does anyone knows where to find the early 911 knobs?
    Easy to change?
Maybe info to an all correct fully original working radio for a 65 car?

    Thanks

    Radio:

    Or the knobs:
    http://www.oldtimerradio.de/shop/pro...lish-cars.html

No affiliation or experience with these guys.

The knobs have a small set screw - easy to change.

Would think V or W Blaupunkt would be ok for later 65?

Quick search on ebay found a few options for radios. The actual radios are the same with different knobs and or faceplates for various cars - 911 doesnt have a specific faceplate.

BTW seem to recall one of the oldtimer de guys has some bad press here or 356 registry cant remember which one.
