Curious that 1972-74 Porsche would have gone from forged aluminium crossmember on the original ~1000 homologation RS/R then switch to regular series-production steel version somewhere around chassis 1100s then switch again but to cast a aluminium version for some in 74 then back to a series- production steel version (if I understand this chronology correctly)?

Or was the cast version in September 73 for the MY 74 Carrera vs steel version on the other 74 911 models?

"The 1974 911 and 911S were equipped with the steel front axle beam; the factory parts catalog shows the US 1975-1977 could be equipped with either the steel or aluminum alloy front axle beam. See the below figure. Item 4 is the protection plate (splash pan); PN 911.341.161.02. Item 5 is the screw you are inquiring about; it is a M10 x 25mm long socket head cap (Allen head type) screw (strength class isn't given but I concur that a class 10.9 or 12.9 should be used); PN 900.067.022.02. Item 6 is a 10 mm spring washer (wave type); PN 900.142.005.01. Item 7 is a 10mm (10.5 mm ID) flat washer; PN 900.025.008.02. Cheers, Jim"

I do agree and looking at the SC part I am surprised it is cast as the finish is very good.

The reinforcing plates described as Tunnel Strengthening also connect to the torsion bar tube.

We have been making them for a few years.

We now make them in Tenform XK450 HSLA steel and form them to the correct shape.

We have quite a few in stock
