Any thoughts on the best way to repair this if I DIY? Or should i let a pro do it (if i can get one to call me back)..?

Just ordered a mr clean magic erase for the rest of it.

depends... what is the condition of the entire headliner, a new headliner may be a better choice than a repair ... what is the condition of the rubber window seal ( has it dried out, cracked , or become hard, ) ( it's been a while ) the rubber seal goes over the liner, a dried out seal would be hard to deal with, replacing it will insure NO leaks going forward for a long time preserving the car underneath,
regardless, the window, hardware, seal should be removed for best access and a good job... how much of the headliner needs to be replaced to make it look good... a lot of fiddling... I had my headliner replaced long ago by a pro... ( I couldn't find directions which foot one needs to stand on or how to hold ones tongue while chanting obscenities ) a pro has all the materials at hand and experience to knock it quickly and look correct... to me the cost of a pro was nominal vs what would have been something ugly for me to do
