    WTB: rear window wiper assembly

    G'day all ,

I'm looking for a complete rear window wiper assembly for my 1973 911E.

The COA states one fitted as new, long since disappeared.

It would be good to get back to original, but I need the whole package preferably , otherwise parts, what have you ?

    best regards

    Bruce

I think the one on eBay is from a slightly later car.

Bruce, I was looking for exactly the same for my 1973 911E. Most of the parts for the rear wiper are still available from Porsche. However, there is a bearing that is NLA. If your car is RHD then there are two bearings required (again NLA). These bearings are hard to find. One source I know of is Freisinger in Germany who have whole rear wiper sets available but they are pricey at around £1300. If money is not a problem then they are probably your best source.

Bruce, is the wiring harness still in the car. It was friction taped to the main harness in the tunnel. You should be able to see or feel it at the rear access cover of the tunnel. There also should be a small vertical switch to the left of the steering column to operate the wiper. If your came from the factory with a rear wiper, some of those things should be there as the wiring is hard to remove and at a minimum a hole where the switch went under the combo gauge at the dash. Jim, I have one like that. It's from a Turbo.

The early one mounts farther back on the lid, on a crossbar and uses a long-ish pushrod to reach the pivot for the arm.

Just checked, and I have *most* of a rear wiper assy. What's missing is the aluminum cap for the motor.

PS: I've got a bunch of motors with the brushes broken off, just like yours and the covers are all missing. I guess I should have taken better care of those things.
