    FS: @eBay - 1968 911 Slate Grey & Red, numbers matching.

This is a numbers matching (as per the Kardex) restoration project. Originally Slate Grey with a red interior when new, this 911 sat for many years before I purchased it. The previous owner embarked upon a short lived restoration attempt, going so far as to rivet on new outer rockers which appear to be the superseded 993 style pieces. Undoubtedly any early 911 restoration is not for the faint of heart or those afraid to spend significant sums of money.

My original intention was to mothball the car until my 1967 911S restoration was finished. Unfortunately, the pace and cost of the 911S restoration has given me serious pause about starting the process over again. I believe that this would be a stunning car when finished, but at the moment the funds would be better used in attempting to finish my 911S.

She isn't pretty, and I don't have any illusions about what it's worth in it's current state. I have set a very low and I believe reasonable reserve. Because the car is listed here and elsewhere, I am willing to end the auction early if someone makes me a fair offer. Additional pictures are available upon request, but if you don't see something here, it's not included. Feel free to ask questions, and the car is available for inspection.

I'll see what I can do Dave.

The car has hit reserve and the auction will end shortly before 2pm EST. Photographs of both the engine and transmission numbers confirm that the car is fully numbers matching.

Thanks Scott, though the buyer has gone strangely silent since winning. I swear I hate eBay.

    Hope to see you soon.

905 is a Sportomatic transmission, /00 is the code for C-HB-O-U gearing.
