This one is right, only one gold deal in the engine bay of 65 cars

Not all Solex air intakes used this decal, some had no gold foil decal at all.

It needs to be shiny gold... not flat gold.

There was a thread on this a while ago. I know of stickers from Aase and CarBone Liveries--neither is 100% correct.

Here's a photo of an original snorkel sticker (which has seen better days):

The Aase sticker has a brushed finish and it uses a "period (.)" for the decimal point in the millimeter measurements while the Swabians used a "comma (,)." The Aase parentheses are different and the two valves don't match:

The Carbone Liveries snorkel sticker is printed on very thin foil:

The “ü” in “Zündfolge” has a little tail in the CarBone sticker which the original sticker lacks.

Because of the thicker material, the Aase sticker probably looks more original if you don't get too close. I had one of each and I installed the CarBone sticker on my car.

Nice analysis Jim. I also find the font of CarBone better, Aase looks bold.
Would ordering 2 and putting them on top of eachother help to make it appear thicker?

What about the comment made earlier that some snorkels came without? Did this start as of a certain moment?

Franz, Frank, how was that in 1964?

If you want to make it look thicker you might do better by putting it over some other material, maybe even an Aase sticker (or something similar). CarBone's foil is really thin.

It could be true that some of the very early cars had no sticker but Porsche had valve clearance stickers in 356As so I'd think they'd continue with the new six cylinder engine.

Here's a photo from a brochure printed in March 1965 (the photograph had to have been taken in 1964):

My car, 301382, had a snorkel sticker which I foolishly destroyed when I got the air cleaner refinished. Back then I'd only had it (or any) Porsche for a few months and I didn't realize that the replacements in the catalog were so badly incorrect. That photo of an original sticker was an air cleaner originally from a different car.
