    Parts availability is really amazing

A month ago or so, I heard a story on the CBC about this guy who had a heater valve fail on his 2009 F-150. The dealer told him to find one in a junk yard because Ford no longer made the part.

Contrast this with my '73S and the $14k I just dropped at Stoddard, Aase and my P-car dealer on mostly OEM new, but also a few NOS and repro parts that are exceptional. Enough stuff to fill the back of my Macan with the seats folded down.

We really are lucky with these cars. While we moan about the ever escalating price of the cars themselves, try finding new parts for 40-50 year old "other" cars.

And then I found this online. Best Ad ever. https://video-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/...a9&oe=5806D133

I sent it to my local Porsche dealer's parts counter and he said he could have the starter for a 1950 Porsche Junior in by Friday. Amazing. Just Amazing.

I don't have a PET for the P111, so I have no idea what the broad availability of parts for it is. But the starter most certainly is available to order at my Porsche dealer (remanufactured). Call yours up and see.

Parts supply for our cars is good and getting better all the time. Whoever has the F150, needs to find a new dealer.

You guys are too quick to judge. Here's the story, with Ford's acknowledgement of the issue. NO dealer can help him.

It is the parts availability that makes it a fun hobby. Nothing more frustrating than trying to restore a car and the parts you need are NLA. I have great respect for the folks that can restore the unique cars where you can't get parts, but have to repair, or recreate. Fortunately we have some folks like that on this forum too

And it tastes gooooood. Yeah, I thought they picked the one part of the P111 that was still available. Turns out there is a Porsche diesel tractor registry, just like our registry. http://www.porsche-diesel.com/default.aspx
and an EU registry too. http://www.porsche-diesel-club.de/

And there is a whole parts and service infrastructure. And discussion of correct paint codes and bolt plating. And Christophorus articles. http://www.porsche.com/filestore.asp...letype=default

    Sound familiar?
