    Conversions

Toyota 2JZ is pretty popular but I'd never seen an MB Diesel conversion in a sports cars.

I don't know if a MB 6.3 could be considered a sports car, although it was way quicker than most in its day.
It used a former diesel tank motor for extraordinary power.

It was a bad-ass in its day.

The replacement 6.9 was a real savage, dry sump and all!

I don't think the M100 has it's origins in a diesel Tank motor. It was a development for the W100.
Diesel V12 Tank engines of that time had displacements of 45 litres.

Renegade (Hybrids) has this down to a science. You can buy a blown 996 cheap as it doesn't make financial sense to fix one.
The engine will always be the Achilles Heel of these cars. IMS fixes aren't a guaranteed deal either. It was a bad design and a low point for Porsche engineering.

ONLY the 996 Turbo, GT2 and GT3 have a proper engine based on Hans Mezger's tried and true design with GT1 racing pedigree.
