Thread: Windshield Wiper Switch

    Windshield Wiper Switch

I was out driving my '72 in the rain this weekend, and was using the wipers on low speed. Then, the rain let up, and I started using the "washer" setting to mimic intermittent wipers. All was fine for a while. Suddenly, wipers were going at high speed, pausing a bit, then going again. Turning the wiper switch did not stop the wipers. They even continued to run after I turned off the ignition! Finally, after cycling the ignition switch, they stopped, but parked about 30 degrees too high.

    Did my switch just fail?

    Thanks in advance.

    Most likely.
Lucky for you, they are niether rare nor expensive.
They are easy to change, too.

I'm assuming that you were kidding when you said that the part was neither rare, nor expensive...

Exactly the same happened to mine in my 2.4 S 1972. I'd to buy a new unit, found on mitellie.de or similiar site. The only way to stop it was to pull the fuse.

I suspect an ingenious person might be able to repair it.

No, I was not kidding. The pile of switches shown is just the tip of the ice berg. Call me and I'll send you one for a reasonable/realistic price. I don't live in the desert, either.

    Hi Jim:

Was out of internet range for a while. Would definitely be interested if you have one. I live in the Napa Valley.

Stop by Rombauer and pick up a bottle of Chardonnay, place it on my counter and you can take your pick of 20 or so wiper switches, or you can just bring $50.00.
