Harvey is probably having a fit after seeing you touch one of his wheels with bare hands. He wouldn't think of going near one of those without donning cotton gloves first.

For reference, here is what these bad boys look like mounted on an oem stock fendered 1973, mounted with extended studs, open lugs and 12mm spacers with Avon 215 tires.

NOTE: these are the other pair of restored 7R's that I got from HW in the same shipment.

I am going down the same route with my 911, fitting 215 Avons to 7R's at the back. Can i ask if you fitted tubes to the 7R/Avon mix and if so, what size. If you didnt, what did you do to the wheels to allow you to run tubeless? Also, what length studs did you go for?

    Thanks

    Andrew

No tubes. Didn't know that was an issue. Tires been on for a year and 1,000 miles...

Sorry, cannot remember stud length. I bought two different lengths just in case. But don't know what lengths. IIRC, and I probably don't, 66 and 72.

I also bought a bunch of different thickness spacers as each car is a little bit different.

I did buy the studs and spacers and open lugs from Elker/Automotion website, I do remember that.

thanks, i read somewhere that tubes on 7 inch wheels or more were not recommended and that this necessitated special valves being fitted to prevent pressure loss????

I heard about the special valves but didn't do that either.
Still holding air a year later.

The expert in these matter is Harvey Weidman. I read lots of his posts here and on the bird. He was also very nice and helpful on the phone. Great guy.
