    LWB Dashpad

Was there an option from the factory of a dashpad without a removable speaker grill, just perforated speaker holes in the dashpad?
I have a very original 71E that has never been painted with this type of dashpad in it and was wondering if it is definitely an aftermarket replacement or even maybe a later Porsche replacement.

    Hi Rob,
there was a Porsche replacement dash that had the perforated speaker holes, a fix for the earlier style that split/cracked around the original speaker cover I am told.
Here's one nos I have, think it has an 89 date stamp on the box part# from memory.
    Is that like your's?
    Rgds,
    Sean.

I replaced the dash on my 70S in 1986, and the dash above with the perforated holes was all that was available from Porsche. It was a simple replacement.

    Lightbulb

I replaced mine in '90 with the other factory alternative, a plan dash with no holes at all....
The factory sold, and Porsche parts places stocked, both as replacements.
I actually found a place with a NOS speaker cover dash for $1500... a bit too much for me in 26 years ago....

Wow Chuck, $ 1,500 26 years ago must have been a fair percentage of the value of the car.
