Last night on Jay Leno's Garage, Patrick Dempsey stated that a Sepia Brown 71 911T was "beautiful" and vintage Porsches are "unsafe". I am concerned for him. What say you?

Are you sure he didn't say Sepia was unsafe and vintage Porsches beautiful? Because that would make some sense

I'd hazard a guess it has more to do with distracted (cell phones, make-up, screaming children etc. ) drivers in Escalades then anything else.

Some drive Porsches' to be seen.....
I prefer it when nobodys looking.
Watched the same show last night. I believe Patrick stated he did not race vintage because the cars in general are unsafe......I don't think he was singling out Porsches. Mario Andretti has been quoted many times that he does not like driving any of his old race cars due to poor set up and old suspension components. Jackie Stewart has made similar references in the past. Give the guy a break...he's a pretty good shoe and serious enthusiast.

I think he means compared to a modern 911 (ie GT3/GT3RS) the old cars are unsafe
Smaller, lighter (yes, a positive until you meet a guardrail or Escalade...), no airbags, antilock brakes
And NO DOUBT the newer cars are physically stronger, both in how they are designed and comparing new, galvanized steel vs. 40 y/o rust
Sad, but true...
Yes they are more dangerous.
Who cares? Life is full of risks.
I do muse when I see seasoned pros drive our old cars. Most of them have a pretty big smile when they get out of the car.
Even after running 2-4 seconds slower than the owner.
