    Un-skinning a rear lid

I have two dented but otherwise rust free early rear lids. Wondering if there are any threads on un-skinning the outer skin from the inner reinforcement.
Once separated...should be able to repair and re-connect both. Looking to find the air tool that is a spot weld cutter, not just the drill bit. I have those and they work...marginally well. I seek the tool that holds the back of the seam and drills half of the weld.

I've had the most success removing spot welds with a mini belt sander. I got one at Harbor Freight for $30. Norton "orange" belts work very well. This method is very precise.

My metal mentor (Bob Cannon) un-skinned my decklid as well as hood to work out some bumps and rust... To remove the outer skin, we very slowly worked around the folded over crease with a chisel and hammer. The chisel popped the spot welds and then we used a tool to slowly straighten and flatten the folded over metal so that the inner skin could be removed. The door skin tool we used is here: http://www.eastwood.com/sykes-pikava...FQ9Efgodtm0DpQ
