Having been commuting in my 1959 Ghia for awhile I decided about a year ago I'm getting to old
for that. So I started a search for a commuter that would supply heat and defrost in a more timely manner.

I settled in on a used VW GTI, 2009, with the TSi engine. So its been a good enough car, but not very
engaging. My biggest issue is with the drive by wire throttle... completely sucks. I'm used to mechanical connections. It's like
driving a car with a governor.

And the transmission software (it's a DSG) in "D" is ridiculous. jumps up gears way to fast and seems to go to second at the worst
possible time.

Cars have gotten way to forgiving, to the point where I feel they've lost any personal engagement.
