Hello guys can somebody please answer this question why is that line above the p on one of the hood badges I'm considering using either one of these on my 69 but I'm not sure which one is correct or if they're both correct I've never seen a badge with a line above the p and both are Name: 20161222_131319.jpg

Is it a smooth back or a dimpled back?

There definitely was a discussion of similar marks found on other badges. I don't remember there being a conclusive answer to what it all meant...

I think with some diligent searching (use the Google site: search trick) you'll find it.

Dimple backs are definitely later After 69 I believe. Dash over P is new to me but it is not on an early blank

I am thinking that as well. Correct me if Im wrong but weren't these stamped not casted? If they are stamped a die failure can cause this for sure. It happens all the time on coins and makes them more valuable
