    Q. Axle is mine! Now let's change the jets.

As the very excited new owner or Lars' Axle (1967 911R clone with 2.7 RS spec motor) I'm starting the process of adaptation and customization.

SInce Lars was as 8,100 feet in Colorado, and I'm at sea level, I need to rejet the 40IDTP Webers and I have received Main 145 Idle 60 Air correction 180 Main venturis (chokes) 34 Emulsion tubes F3 and am ready to swap the high altitude jets out. My question is as follows: Am I better off to remove the carbs completely since I need to change the chokes, or do I split the carbs main body from the top portion to gain access to the chokes while on the car? I've searched high and wide and I can't find a simply DIY for jetting changes.

Congrats. It's a great car, and Lars is a great guy, I had just visited with him and axle right before you bought it.

Can't help with your question, tho.

SO, YOU'RE the lucky.....guy that picked this up! GREAT score! I was SO close but the (financial) timing was off, as it is a good portion of the time. Yes, Lars is a great guy. Enjoy!

Why are you changing the venturis? What is in there now?

    Lars was at altitude:

    Mains 125
    Idles 50
    Air correction 180
    Chokes 30
    Emulsion tubes-unmarked

    I'm rejetting to:
    Main 145
    Idle 60
    Air correction 180
    Main venturis 34
    Emulsion tubes F3

I decide to try doing it without pulling the carbs. It wasn't that difficult, except one of the gaskets tore and now I'll have to wait for a new one. I would be interested to know how others remove the emulsion tubes.

Just bend a small loop on a paper clip, and stick in tube and pull out.
