What is the difference between a 2.4 liter 'S' US spec and a Euro spec MFI pump?

    Guys,

As part of an unrelated search, I noticed today there is a different Bosch number for the US spec. 2.4 liter S MFI pump compared to the Bosch number for the Euro 2.4 liter S MFI pump. And different numbers exist only for 2.4 liter S MFI pumps.

So what is the difference? Why the difference for only one engine/one year? Would I feel a difference if I had a Euro pump in my 73 MFI Sportomatic S?

Enquiring minds would like to know. Thanks

Iirc one thing is lower CO value for USA spec at idle speed 2.5 +/- .5 vs 3.0 +/- .5

Might be wrong and if so happy to defer to people who earn a living fettling these old cars as just my hobby

Might just be different material for the housing, seems to me some later pumps had an aluminum housing.

Your question has been posed by me without receiving an answer but here goes. The 911S 2.4 pump for the euro market ends in 013 and the US 911S 2.4 pump is listed as ending in 021. I personally do not beleive the 021 pump came out until '73 or later. I have never found an 021 pump dated prior to late '73. If anybody has 021 pump with a serial number that begins with anything lower than 326, PLEASE post it. Especially if it begins in 2. My personal belief is that us-spec 911S actually received the 013 pump until late '73. I am begging to be proven wrong as I would like an answer to this as well.

My April '73 pump is/was an .021 ... Gus re-badged it after the RS rebuild as a .019

My take on this, even though it states it differently in the Bosch book, is that all '72's and early '73's had .013's, and all later '73's (about March on) had .021's whether US or Euro...

Also, most all .013's I've seen were 'dark' bodies, and almost all .021's were bright...
