1969 S Engine Bay Orphan Wire

Anybody know what the brown/white stripe wire at the back of the engine bay in my 1969 S is for?

I have the exact same pigtail on my '69S. It is unused. I also have factory rear wiper that works so I bet it isn't that. I have never used my heated rear window so that is possible? I have found brown with tracer is usually a ground for an optional accessory. I'll be curious to learn what this is too!

Heated rear window wire comes off the relay on the engine compartment relay panel, this wire seems to come off the main harness to the engine compartment.

I have the same on my 69 E. It is not shown on the schematic and I researched it for a while. The only brown with white tracers in the schematic are parking brake/stop lights switch, and the glove box light I believe, neither of which have to do with this location. I tend to agree with Ed on this, based on its location at the back of the engine bay, it would point towards Sporto accessory.

Checking my sporto wiring supplement it is probably the ground wire from the microswitch in the shift lever. It goes into the control valve which is located at about that area of the engine.

Yes I also have a wire unused in my engine bay and my 68 911L is a sporto conversion to 5 speed. Chris

Brown with white stripe is usually a switched ground.
