MY 73 Becker Mexico Cassette or Olympia

Would like to find the most correct radio for a MY 73. CoA says M 468 Becker Mexico Olympia 169 Stereo

Which Becker Mexico is the correct one?

Becker changed 1972 from Mexico Olympia to Mexico Cassette. Did Porsche use 72/73 the old 71 model? The later 72+ models were fullstereo and had a red Stereo Label with bulb. The number 169 indicates not such a red Stereo label.

    1. Becker Mexico Olympia : Stereo Label on tape flap and G Serial number

    2. Becker Mexico Cassette: Stereo Label on tape flap, have seen those only in Benz

    3. Becker Mexico Cassette: Stereo Label on tape flap and red Stereo Label above power/volume knob , have seen H,J,K,L Serial numbers

No. 3 is a later one
Mexico Cassette and red Stereo label is a fullstereo version with number 482, which came on the market later than MY73 came in production.

So only No.1 and No.2 are possible.

    the H model year relates to '71 - '72
is that your car's year ?
the knobs are for a Benz
these are correct - you can get them at Konigs car radio in Haan Germany
the Mexico looks great - does it sound as nice as it looks ?

Thanks for the info Dennis. The radio doesn't belong to my car (73RS), I bought it a while back in an auction and honestly do not know how it sounds. It has been checked out though, the cassette snares (?) have been replaced.
I''l contact Konig for the correct knobs.

It states in the Becker ad that for stereo you need two speakers, and the 911 in 1972/73 only had one speaker install from the factory, while the cheaper 914 in that same time period had two speakers. So in theory the less expensive 914 would have a better sound because it could produce stereo from the factory (getting the most out of the expensive Becker stereo radios). Why would a 911 owner in this time period want a stereo radio, would mono be better because of the one speaker?

I saw a few 911s with a single rear deck speaker that I presumed was there to give a stereo effect when you turned your head sideways... Laughable now that our cars have 10-12 speakers from the factory.
