Vent Control Knobs- how to remove

i'd like to repaint the facia of my vent control unit (not my unit pictured), how do you remove the knobs ?
can the blue and white 'indicators' be removed or should i just carefully mask them up ?
    TIA

The knobs just pull off. Go ahead and yank them.

The indicators are actually small pieces made out of a plastic material. I've had mixed results carefully removing them with a sharp, very thin blade.

I have to say, yours looks pretty good right now!
