Thread: Are all SWB tilting seat bases the same?

Are all SWB tilting seat bases the same?

Bought a pair of '68 sport seats from another member and when we attempted to attach the tilting bases we were surprises to find that mounting bolt holes were off by about an inch.

I measured them and the mounting holes are 15" across from center of hole to center of hole. Then I pulled another identical frame from the shelf and made the same measurement: 15 3/4".

The 3/4 inch difference is enough to keep the new frames from bolting up. Can anyone educate me as to what might be going on?

Hi standard distance for 67,68 and aftermarket seats is 405mm.

My 67 and 68 sport seats and my Vintage Seats seat all measure about 405mm. And they are all interchangeable with my factory tilt.

What I forgot: there are other aftermarket sport seats and brackets with 345mm spacing.

    Much appreciate everyone's input.

Between this thread, and some PM's I've received, it appears that 405mm is the concensus measurement. I just went to my shiop and measured mine: 385mm.

Other than that, they look correct and they do bolt into the car. They just won't bolt to the seats. Any more ideas?

Fab a bracket. Thick, L shaped or triangular. Two holes for the seat so it won't twist, and one hole for the threaded bar on your tilt. No one will see it. Do four and split the difference so you can center your seat.

Yeah, thought about that. Unfortunately, "no one will see it" won't help me. I suffer from a rare disorder that causes me to lose sleep if the date stamps on the back of my gauges don't match.

405 mm here as well, on my originals (and my "tribute" tip brackets).

I think I had that disorder during my 356 days. Now it comes and goes.
