    Install limited slip diff?

How hard of a job is it to install an LSD? Can do without dropping motor out?

Technically yes,,,,but there are many parameters such as bearing preload and backlash that really have to be done with the transmission out.

    Yes.

Simply cut a 1.5" X 3" hole in your pan so the selector shaft can clear. That way you can drop your trans without pulling the motor.

You can physically install an LSD in your transmission without "dropping the motor" (transmission in car), but you'll probably destroy the ring & pinion in doing so.
You need to check and adjust the differential bearing preloads and ring gear backlash as Ed suggested.

An engine drop can be accomplished by a first timer in two hours, one hour the second time, and about thirty minutes once you've done it three times.

Why are you considering fitting an LSD?

Ohk, thanks. This is something for the professionals then.

D - over years I've used LSDs or locking diffs and have become into the traction it adds.

Also my driveway has a contour that pulls a wheel off the ground to get up from the street (just on the 911).
