FS: Set of 4 Torq Thrusts / Unique

Set of four aluminum American Racing Enterprises (ARE) Torq Thrust wheels including original lug nuts and washers. Portions of the original ARE sticker still visible on a couple of the wheels. Now, for the unique part: These started as a set of four 7-inch wheels. Two of the wheels were professionally widened to 8-inch. We found a pair of plentiful 15” Chevrolet TTs of the same vintage. The outer edges from the Chevys were removed and added to the Porsche rims to achieve the widened profile. As the profile was increased to the outside, the backspace on all four wheels is the standard ARE offset, approx. 4.75 inches. While in for widening, all four had minor curb rash cleaned up.

The modifications were performed by James Reading at Weldcraft Wheels in Livonia MI. (http://www.weldcraftwheels.com) James and crew have been in the wheel business for 35 years. Ask on the HAMB Board (hotrodders online hang-out) for who to send wheels to for modification and invariably two names pop-up – Eric Vaughn in LA and James Reading/Weldcraft.

The spokes on these were painted black. They have been stripped and ready for your finish *some clean-up still to be done). A note about finishes… The weld bead on the outside has been nicely dressed and with paint would be invisible. A brushed (ScotchBrite) finish would also likely disguise the welded area. However, most agree that an anodized finish would “telegraph” the weld. Please take this into consideration.

Set of four (2-7" and 2-8") wheels including original lug nuts and washers: $2500 shipped CONUS. PayPal OK. Outside CONUS please PM to discuss additional shipping costs.
