    Not aware that 73 model RS ever had Aluminium hood from factory ?

    You're thinking of aluminum on LHD ...not aluminium

    Must be lighter because it has one less letter

    In 1812, its discoverer, Sir H. Davy, first called the metal alumium but then modified the word apparantly.

    Discussion of before Jürgen discounted a similar claim for the 73 RS model having aluminium hood (or whatever it is called) recently in this thread ...

    learn something new every day--today i learned that ALU (even lighter in german) or Al(can`t beat this) was discovered in 1807 (german wiki),1808 (english wiki ),1809+1825(periodensystem-online.de)and 1812 (www.early911sregistry.org)
