    Marco

Condolences. I live across the pond so never got to meet your father but I hope with the passage of time you might draw some small comfort from this global community's deep respect for him -- particularly during this very difficult time.

Wishing you and the family all the best.

    Steve

My deepest condolences to you and your family Marco. Your dad was always fun to chat with at the shop, at the track, or at the new years day parties. Cherish the memories.

For the entire 40 plus years that I knew Tony I was ALWAYS busting his balls about him smoking cigarettes!

A few years back he was telling me that he needed to put in a new master cylinder in his hot rodded high HP 911 because the one in the car was leaking badly and he said that he was also going to buy a set of new tires because the tires on the car were "Played Out" (A famous Tony G term…)

I said to him, why are you bothering fixing your brakes or putting on new tires? Because you know those F*cking cigarettes are going to kill you first… He gave me his famous Tony G smirk and then he said to me… "Go f*ck yourself"

God I wish like hell that I had been wrong about his smoking being so damn dangerous or that he had listened to me, Lois and Marco and had stopped smoking.

If any of you smoke... STOP!

Smoking cigarettes cost me a near life long friend and Marco a father and Lois her husband. And the entire Porsche Community lost a remarkable talent because of cigarettes.

I would hate for this thread to depart from its intended purpose; the comments by those who loved Tony reinforce why relationships are important and should encourage Marco and the rest of the family. But I have to agree with Jeff on this one. Whether it's cigarettes, gambling, the bottle, or how we treat our wives our lifestyle choices will always affect those around us.

A true friend should never be afraid to warn of destructive behavior or offer constructive counsel. THAT is how one discovers what a friendship is made of.

Wow this really caught me off guard, my condolences Marco to you and your family ..
When I think back I guess I've known your dad about twenty five years , he's always been a great source of information
and an incorrigible character at the same time .
Not the guy to ask if you didn't want a direct no punch pulled answer ,and unabashedly so!
I touched base with him on a Christmas visit to the coast about two years ago and we managed to do some horse trading
on parts and prior to that hadn't spoken to him since the Anaheim swap where I caught him by the benched and we caught up on some of the old times back in the ninties when I lived here and dropped by the shop regularly ..
God speed brother , he will be sorely missed, Bert

Remembering ALL of the times that I would show up at TLG in a Cobra, a Mercedes, a Ferrari, a BMW etc. and Tony would say… "F*ck you! I ain't working on that piece of sh!t this is a Porsche shop"… I would say " yeah you are!"...

And then we would go rounds. It usually took about 10-15 minutes of loud F*ck yous back and forth before my Non P car was on the rack up in the air and Tony would be opening his tool box

It isn't going to be any different with Marco. We already go rounds and have for years!

Tony was a Nasty, Gruff, Rude SOB…

Thats why we got along so well and why I loved him… I already really miss him.
