Did anyone see the March 2017 edition of panorama?

Beginning on page 55, there is a substantial story about a Porsche 912 driven by "Elsie." If I am reading the Panorama story correctly, the story alleges that Elsie's Porsche 912 is a 1969 model. However the photograph look like the bumpers have all-chrome guards, and the rear bumpers do not have reflectors. (i later saw that i didn't look closely enough at the photo on page 61, which does show the reflectors.) To me, the bumper guards look like they are for a 65-66 car.

More than likely, I am simply ignorant about the bumper guard details on a 912. Either way, I am comfortable with the outcome. Just thought the group might enjoy connecting the registry and its knowledge with the most recent version of panorama.

Wouldn't it seem like panorama should be able to get that right? Or is the problem that I am simply ignorant about the equipment on a 912? Either way, I am comfortable with the outcome. i did a really bad job of stating the question. my apologies.

of course, Chuck and Tom are correct. thanks for pointing those things out. in addition, the photo of the interior (p. 56), of the dash, seats, and steering wheel (p. 60) all are clearly LWB.

what seemed odd to me was that the photos of the front bumper guards (pp. 57, 59), the rear guards (p. 59), and the rear end (p. 61) seem to show all-chrome bumper guards, which i thought to be 65-66 guards. didn't Porsche convert the 912 bumper guards to have the rubber strip?

it is still a very cool car with a wonderful family provenance. the bumper guards just seemed out of place to me, so i posed the question to the scholars, albeit badly.

    Thumbs up

That article brought back some fond memories of growing up in a small mill town near Pittsburgh, PA in the late 60's. I was around 13 years old at the time, and the only Porsches that I ever saw were in Road & Track mag. I can still remember walking down Ohio Ave. in Glassport, when I spotted my very first Porsche cruise by me. It was Elsie Biship in her red 912. Now retired and living in Simi Valley, CA, it was great to see that my first Porsche is still running through the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, and with the same family. It's more than just a car.
