I thought the 11 was for a 74 Carrera and the 01 was RS

It looks like it was mis marked when it was made, as they are obviously early 15x7 wheels as noted by the 66mm center (lug centric wheels). Fuchs made for 74' and newer cars were hub centric wheels with the larger center.

It may help to know...The 01 7x15 was indeed used in model year Carrera RS and are the original wheel type (still) fitted to my first 500 series 1972 production car. The wheels in my RS case are not black they are RS coloured (Mexico blue) with their factory original paint an option found in MY 73 as one combination with the RS model only GP white paint scheme. The 7x15 on my example are dated consistent with other early series RS with long owner provenance that I'm familiar with. Having had car since early nineties and been in contact with all of the few relatively few PO who had car for approx its first 20 years there is little doubt this 7x15 pair are original factory fittment 7s. The 01 are the ones listed in the 9.72 edition II of the maroon parts catalogue

No mention of 11 in that 9.72 II parts catalogue edition/ supplement, its print date being contemporary with introduction of RS model.

However by the time the maroon catalogue was updated 2/74 the 01 is superseded by 11. I have two different paper maroon editions II and IV of catalogue. Don't think I have III? By that 2/74 IV date the Carrera 2.7 2 per vehicle column would have been referring the impact bumper not Carrera RS presumably. These old parts book are not infallible but is often useful indicator of chronology.

The same date code is indeed curious. If anyone has the original physical (not later reprinted or electronic PET) edition III with relevant plate/page 6/4 factory maroon manual to hand I'd be interested in the date on the bottom of page and also seeing what part number Carrera 2.7 column entry refered to -- that may inform the discussion.

The problem with stuff purported to be an RS item but "found in the wild" rather than still on their certified RS is establishing the provenance, assuming that is something important to buyer and relevant to pricing.

No affiliation or interest in items FS

Well, there appear to be many orphan sets of RS 7x15 Fuchs that are "found in the wild"

The Pelican Thread below has a post from Harvey Weidman about the availability of 7" Fuchs from late 72' onward.

    http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...-6-73-a-2.html

I never said they were from an RS as I don't know the history over the last 44 years of these wheels, I replied to a poster to say that would have been the only street car that came stock with these wheels in 1973. I'm sure they were available to order through the dealership back in the day. The only history I have is that I pulled these off of my 914-6 to replace them with another set of wheels.

That date code on the '11' wheel could easily be '75'
